Winter 2019 Humanitarian Trip to Haiti

Christian Hand Winter 2019 Mission Trip Report
Arrival in Haiti: Wednesday February 13, 2019
Departure from Haiti: Wednesday February 20, 2019

On Wednesday February 13, 2019, due to currently widespread , violent, unpredictable demonstrations, tire burning, road blockages, criminal incidents, armed robberies, eleven volunteers instead of eighteen registered left New York and Miami for the Christian Hand Mission in the North of Haiti.  One dentist and some helpers from Port-au-Prince, who had to join our team in Cap-Haitian, were unable to do so because of the widespread demonstrations in the capital, elsewhere, and on Route Nationale no.1, leading to Cap-Haitian.

Volunteers Testimonies:
Each morning at 6:30 AM the volunteers met for prayer. Each night, before going to bed they met also to share their workday experiences.  Here are some testimonies of the volunteers:

John J.: Every time I come in mission with Christian I learned something new.  The registration process was a challenge. We will never be able to satisfy the needs of the people whatever we have.  May the Lord grant us wisdom and strategies! I hoped everyone would be able to come. I was not afraid, but God spoke differently to each of us.  I was happy to go to Pappy Pierre hometown. God gave him the desire of his heart. The kids here are better than the kids of my hometown. They listen and sit down.  I feel a kind of connection with them.

Francoise Jusma Pierre: The seed is planted.  The main focus is not the material things, but the gospel.  Medical Mission is different than Medical Treatment. We really are not relying on the medicine that we provide to treat the sick, but we rely on God himself to do the healing, and we witness that fact trip after trip.  It is amazing how God brings peace among us in spite of the turmoil surrounding us..

Rev. Lawrence Pitta: I had a nice experience with the kids.  I enjoyed working with them. They are sweet children.  They touched the hairs of my arms. They recited verses and I gave them some toys.  I stop worrying. My job is to sow the seeds.

Jeanette Gibbs: This is my first mission trip.  It is also my first experience with the Haitian people and the language barrier.  It was difficult at first, but God is so good. We came to claim the land in the name of Jesus.  I thank you for letting me come to this mission trip.

Kyra Pierre: Everything was fine for me.  My main concern was the control of the crowd.

Therese Wiley: God picked the right people for this trip.  I am glad that I was able to teach and play volleyball with the kids.

Marie-May Denis: I learned new things from this trip, such as dealing with stress and anxiety.  The blood sugar level and the high blood pressure of the people got my attention.  God had a reason to send us here at this specific time. Humanly speaking, we had more than we could handle, but God in his grace had sustained us and made everything went well.

Alceus Pierre: I am happy and satisfied.  I want to thank first the Great Master of the Universe and all of you, members of Christian Hand, for this great experience.
