We are back from an adventurous mission trip from the south of Haiti. We covered the outskirts of Les Cayes, the capital city of the south of Haiti. Food supplies and construction materials were pre-ordered, delivered and received by our mission coordinator and board member who traveled two days earlier in order to receive our supplies. A team of six left with one goal to show the Love of GOD to the poor. We traveled for four hours from Port-Au-Prince detouring one of the broken bridges from Hurricane Matthew to an area where they filled up the soil and rocks so cars could cross over. We reached our base in Camp-Perrin at about 7:00PM. It took us about 25 minutes standing as we got out of the car to grasp the reality of it all as we watched the yard filled with fallen trees, the partly broken fence, the unroofed cafeteria and the emptiness of the vast land of our property. We set up our generator to have light to see inside and the sight was just as shocking. The guest house was a mess of all of our belongings: mattresses, sheets, broken beds, utensils and more. We wasted no time starting the clean up process and set a place to sleep. Early the next morning, we drove around. It was overwhelming to see the same pictures and hear the same story over and over again. Our message to them was that our faithful GOD spared them because HE has a plan for them. They must turn from their way and knowing GOD is their hope and only way out. As we walked to each household we let the message be known.
By the end of our trip, within the span of only four full days, we replaced 22 roofs and gave groceries bags to over 500 families covering La Matiniere, Laporte, Simon, Tufete, Vashon and Banate. A total of 150 sacs of rice were able to be split into four bags each to put in the groceries. A total of 25 bags of beans were able to be split into ten bags to put into the groceries as well.
Overall, the seeds have been planted and by the grace of God, they will grow.It was a successful trip and without God and the Christian Hand family, none of it would have been possible.
