OUR GOD NEVER FAILS US!
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not
come nigh thee. ~ Psalms 91:7
HE Our GOD never fails us yet and HE never will. HE never sends us alone. When we hear the sound of war, when we hear the raging roaring of the sea and turbulence of the wind, or the worries of the faithless, we remain calm because we have experienced the Goodness and the faithfulness of the LORD!!! Haiti is not the safest place to travel to. There is a lot of chaos going on – lawlessness, crime and kidnapping. Gangs are governing and preventing everyday people from carrying out their lives in normalcy. Most of the universities are in the capital which is locked by gangsters preventing our students from attending the university of their choice. We spoke to one of our top scholars who wants to become a mechanical engineer but ended up attending a trade school trying to learn auto mechanics since he cannot cross a certain part of the city to get to the university. And we heard so many of these stories. We heard stories of kidnapping, even of missionaries. We heard that those practicing voodoo killing each other, different gangs killing innocent people and each other… Oh yes, we heard it all!
Most importantly, we heard the tender whisper of GOD that told us to go, be compassionate, and love My people. We are not the master of ourselves and our days are numbered; we are here for a set time and we are called for HIS mission. HE never fails to equip those HE calls.
While in Haiti we received text from the States of very concerned friends telling us not to go, not to stay, or to be very careful. We want to thank them all for their concern, caring, love, and prayers. In all honesty, this was one of the most peaceful trips we’ve experienced. It is as if we were not in the Haiti that the media is reporting about.
From Port-Au-Prince we took a local plane to our base where we ministered to the community we adopted. It was calm and quiet with welcoming people waiting to be ministered to. We were not able to bring much with us and our barrels never arrived but GOD provided the means for us to pay for our children’s schools and their accessories. We encouraged families with smalls businesses. We helped to rebuild houses destroyed since the earthquake five years ago.
We paid for trade school for a few of our young adults. In the medical clinic, we ministered to an average of 104 patients daily. We sat, dined, discussed the Bible, prayed, and continuously loved on them. Now we are back from Haiti safely. GOD did not ask us for the impossible but HE just asks us to trust and obey.
Always in CHRIST,
